About

About Redoubt Assurance

The name

A redoubt is the inner position of a fortification, the part a garrison falls back to and holds when the outer wall is lost. It was never meant to protect everything. It was meant to make sure the thing that mattered couldn't be taken.

A CUI enclave works on the same principle. Most contractors try to defend the whole company and end up defending none of it well. We build the small, strong position instead.

Founder

Nathan Bailey

CMMC Registered Practitioner Advanced · [other certifications]

Before founding Redoubt Assurance, Nathan led defense contractors through CMMC Level 2 certification from start to finish: scoping the boundary, designing and building the Microsoft environment, writing the System Security Plan, and sitting across from the assessor. He also designed and built the environments behind two FedRAMP authorizations.

Alongside that work he developed the delivery method, project plans and policy framework that let a small team certify multiple companies in a year. Redoubt Assurance exists to bring that method to contractors who can't hire it in-house.

How we work

Three commitments

Evidence over assertion

Nothing goes into the SSP as implemented unless we have seen it operating.

Plain language

A program manager should be able to read our reports without a glossary. If a sentence needs one, we rewrite it.

We fix things

An assessment that ends with a list of findings is half the job. We would rather close them.
